The Burden of Knowledge from Fallen Angels at the Strychnin Gallery Berlin
November saw the worldwide DVD and Blu Ray release of Guillermo Del Toro's HELLBOY 2 THE GOLDEN ARMY, to celebrate the launch, Universal Pictures hosted a party in Los Angeles. Along with Spectral Motion, Creature Effects were invited to recreate some of the movies' creatures for the event. Spectrals, Mike Elizalde and Thom Floutz were nominated for the movies makeup effects in this years Academy awards. Prior to the ceremony both had travelled to the UK in January to take part in The International Makeup Artists Tradeshow at Alexandra Palace. Journalist Joe Nazarro hosted a jam packed Hellboy 2 panel at the event which included speakers from all the companies who contributed to the movies effects, myself included. I was also responsible once again for curating the museum/gallery at the event, and must thank all the companies and artists who exhibited work from both movie and personal projects. I made a new sculpture for the exhibition entitled "Geisha"

In December I travelled to Berlin for Dutch artist Daniel Van Nes' show "FALLEN ANGELS" at the Strychnin Gallery. A number of specially commisiioned peices were on exhibit at the show alonside work by Virginie Ropars and Marina Bychkova. These new works, The Burden of Knowledge, Caged and Bound and Burnt Out, have been added to the creatures section in the PORTFOLIO. More details about the work, including prices and availability can be found at the Strychnin Gallery website (www.strychnin.com)

In February I began work on the movie CLASH OF THE TITANS, director Louis Leterrier's remake of the 1981 film which featured effects by stopmotion wizard Ray Harryhausen. This time round the various creatures will be realised by a combination of CG, prosthetics and animatronics. Along with many creature effects regulars I am working on animatronic creatures under the umbrella of Neil Corbould Special Effects. Owing to these commitments I regret that I am not able to look at folios or arrange workshop visits until the end of the year.

We have also contributed to a number of tv shows over the past few months including NEW TRICKS and PSYCHOVILLE and made animatronic heads and prosthetics for the new NICORETTE commercial "Mouth Says No"
